All my life I have looked for Viriditas, that divine “greening power” that St. Hildegard teaches about, and everywhere I found it, I found myself singing. As a little girl, I would spend hours and hours building sand castles every summer by the Atlantic Ocean, singing to myself. As a teen living in Switzerland, I would count the days until the weekend when I could be on my skis in my beloved Alps, following my dad as he yodeled his way down the slopes. As an adult, I discovered St. Hildegard von Bingen’s music. When I am singing her music, I am connected to the Divine, and nothing else matters.

My mission is to help people reconnect to the arts in personal ways that become vehicles for transformation. I am an accomplished classical singer, pianist, tap dancer, painter, playwright and performer, musician and teacher inspired by the use of sound, poetry, and image to elevate and enlighten.

I was born in London, England, and lived in New York State until the age of twelve, when my family relocated to Zurich, Switzerland. I entered Dartmouth College at age nineteen, joined the Chamber Singers there, later touring England with them.  I am fluent in five languages, one of which, German, has greatly aided my efforts to explore and give voice to the powerful teachings of Hildegard.

After earning my undergraduate degree in German Studies, I pursued teaching. As a teacher, I infused song and story into my work as an instructor of children in the Waldorf philosophy for twenty years. I went on to pursue two Masters Degrees from Teacher’s College at Columbia University, in Education and Counseling Psychology.

Singing, dancing, and playing music throughout my teaching career, I strove to integrate my guiding philosophy into my Waldorf teaching, and so began a DMin program under the theologian Matthew Fox. I graduated with a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fox’s Wisdom University (previously the University of Creation Spirituality) in 2008.

From my original plan to build a Waldorf curriculum around the life and work of Hildegard, my project transformed over time into the one-woman performance piece, Feathers on the Breath of God, which opened in Boulder, CO at the Nomad Theater in August, 2011.  Since then, I have been in a creative tidal wave, as I continue to follow St. Hildegard’s directive.

I live in Boulder, Colorado with my two children and husband Dr. David Sharp.
