Chanting the Wisdom Traditions, March 5 – March 9, 2018, Fox Institute
Dear Viriditas Community,
How I love writing to all of you each week! I hope you are enjoying this new weekly rhythm as much as I am….
This week I want to focus on CREATIVITY. What are your plans for nourishing your creative self in this new year of 2018? What new ideas or forms are bubbling up within and waiting for you to express them?
Creative expression puts us in touch with our inner core. A part of the Divine flow. It’s enlivening and invigorating. And brings to us a possibility for self healing.
Creativity is the breath of life.
As you all know, one way I like to engage in creative expression is through music. I have posted a video of a recent performance of the marimba band KUTANDARA that I am a part of on the doctorofthesoul website. We were part of the 1st Annual Martin Luther King Talent Show of Boulder last Monday night. The Talent Show was held at the Avalon Ballroom and was a fundraiser for the I Have A Dream Foundation. It was a heart warming evening. I encourage you to watch the video. As you listen, ask yourself the question: How am I called to nourish my creative self?! Click here to access the video.
We are all artists, capable of creating something new in a moment of inspiration and imagination. Through this, we can connect more closely with the Divine, and the Divine in each other.
Check out this week’s blog post on how to Discover the Artist Within.
And if you are interested in exploring your own creative expression as an artist, find out more about the class I am teaching in February here.
Healing through the Chanting of Mantras
I continue to be in my creative flow as I develop my mantra practice. The mantras used for chanting in healing are precise instruments that support us in connecting with the Divine, often through the doorway of the attributes or energetic force of a Hindu god or goddess. This is possible for anyone to do, with or without any belief in religion.
Through the power of sound within the mantra, chanting as a spiritual practice leads us closer to our Higher Self, dissolves obstacles in life, and brings compassion and peace into the world. Making you be the best self you can be in your life.
As you continue forward with your practice of mantra chanting, you do want to eventually dissolve the image of the Hindu god or goddess used in the practice. This will facilitate the power of the mantra to come forth through the sound. Then you can enter into a deeper place of stillness where transformation can arise.

As a spiritual explorer, are you looking for a way to deepen your spiritual practice so that you can be even more effective in your work in the world? So you can be your best self and make a positive difference in the world?
If so you may find my guidebook on How to Bring Life to your Chakras helpful. It will be available soon. It is a simple, step-by-step guide that will support you in deepening your practice in balancing your chakras through mantra chanting. It’s engaging, effective, and even fun! Easy to do in only take 10-15 minutes of your time each day. I’ll update you as soon as it becomes available.
All right dear ones… I close with this quote from St. Hildegard of Bingen:
“Humankind, full of all creative possibilities, is God’s work. Humankind alone is called to assist God. Humankind is called to co-create. With nature’s help, humankind can set into creation all that is necessary and life-sustaining.”
I would love to hear about how you are nourishing your creativity in 2018!
PS Audios to guide you in your mantra chanting practice at home are available in my Free Healing Library.
