St. Hildegard’s Biography Translated.

Dear Viriditas Community,

As we move through 2014, I will be sharing with you some of the key passages from the very first biography that was ever written about St. Hildegard. The biography was begun by Gottfried of Disibodenberg under St. Hildegard’s supervision and completed after her death by the monk Theoderich. You will get to read about her visions, her struggles, her writings, her songs, her letters and the wondrous healings that were attributed to her. You will learn about St. Hildegard through the eyes of two monks from her time.

Viriditas Newsletter, January

Dear Viriditas Community, Happy New Year!

As we begin another year together I would like to tell you about some of the new things you will be hearing about this year.  First and foremost, I have gone back to school!  I have enrolled in the Yogic Mystery School which is a distance learning program created by Russill & Asha Paul.  Russill Paul was one of my teachers during my doctoral journey at Wisdom University.  I have known for many years that the spirituality of St. Hildegard of Bingen has as its foundation the spirituality of ancient Hinduism.  So I have decided to explore St. Hildegard’s roots!  The program goes very deep into the power of mantras with related spiritual practices to effect deep changes in consciousness.  Stay tuned!

Another new body of work that I will be sharing with you this year is a three fold journey with St. Hildgard of Bingen which you will be able to have access to on my blog.  I will start by sharing with you the highlights of the very first biography that was written about St. Hildegard of Bingen in the thirteenth century by the monks Gottfried and Theoderich both of whom knew St. Hildegard personally.  I will then be giving an overview of St. Hildegard’s theology and conclude the journey with a description of the seventy most important plants that St. Hildegard used in her healing remedies.

David and I brought something brand new to our January, Tap Into Transformation…drum roll…..The Sharpettes Game!  David and I have created a board game and we played it for the first time on Jan. 3rd after dancing our hearts and feet out to the Benny Goodman tune “Sing, Sing, Sing.” I am always so delighted to experience how newcomers to the event dive into the tap shoes and come alive in a brand new way.  This happens every month so even if you haven’t ever been to a Tap event, don’t be shy…join us!

And on the tap front, if you really want to have a spectacular weekend join David and me on March 21-23 for our Tap Into Power For Life workshop.  David and I have begun planning out the details for the weekend and I’m very excited as I connect with the vision that is emerging. Using basic tap steps as our foundation, we will create powerful group  rhythms into which we will tap humor, pain and prayer. Come experience what it feels like to connect deeply with others as we express the Wisdom of our Hearts through our feet.

Yes, it’s going to be a year of wonder and joy!  David and I already experienced it at the concert our marimba band, Knob Mentality played in on Jan 12th at the Boulder Valley UU Fellowship.  I played the lead for the first time!

As my hands flew over the singing wood in connection with the other eight members of the band I felt like I was skiing down a steep snow covered Alp at breathtaking speed.  My heart was pounding as I was swept away by the power and joy of the Zimbabwean music.  African music has so much to give us.

As we continue our journey with African music I want to have some fun with you.  Listen to the following piece of music and see if you can guess which African country it’s from.

I will give you the answer in next month’s newsletter!

May your New Year be full of new blessings. Each one of you is truly a blessing in my life.
